The famous girl from the weightlifting game was born on 8th August 1994, in Imphal and thus remains in the Indian state called Manipur. She made India proud to gain a couple of gold medals in the Commonwealth Games. This is the first time when she bagged the same and since then it was not looking back for the lady weightlifting game. She was awarded with the most honored award called Padma Shree.

She then went on to qualify for the Rio Olympics, however, her participation in the ame sporting event failed to give much to her in 2016. Then the same year she got the chance to participate in the 12th Asian Games, which was held in Guwahati.

Thus you can find her career in the sports to be a roller coaster ride for her. However, at the end she managed to gain a couple of medals for the country making it proud in several weightlifting championship across the world.

She has even managed to make some weightlifting records in different categories like 85, 194 and 107 kgs categories.

In 2018 she managed to win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and thus proving her worth in the games.


She honed her weightlifting skills from her trainer and coach called Kunj Rani Devi who was the one who taught everything about the game. She represented the country several times under the said coach.


Talking about her awards, she has been awarded 15 lakhs by the CM of her state – Manipal for bringing home the gold medal for India in Tokyo Olympics held in 2021. She then bagged the Padma Shri award from Govt of India, which was presented by the President of India – Mr. Ram Nath Kovind.

Besides that she also managed to gain a good award from her home state when the Manipur state awarded 1 Cr and offered a government job to her.

 Her weightlifting records

When she was 20, she participated in her first tournament called the Commonwealth Games held in 2014. She won a couple of medals there in the tournament.

She went for 85 kg with 194 snatches and 107 kg with jerk and clean thus making a world record with it.

She is among the first women from India to bag the Rajak Medal at the Olympics held in Tokyo in the 49 kg category.

She also has a world record for lifting a clean and jerk gaining the world record.

She also holds a world record in the 49 kg category in the women weightlifting category.

She gained the gold medal in the 2021 in Tokyo Olympics and gained 119 Kg which seems to be a good record.

She has several medals since she started in 2014 till date.
